Nayeli Huijara

Program and Services Coordinator

Nayeli Huijara was raised in the San Fernando Valley, which shaped her personal values and beliefs. Growing up in an under-resourced community and witnessing firsthand the challenges faced by marginalized populations inspired her to work toward equity and opportunity for all. Her exposure to diverse communities and her early experiences with systemic inequities fueled a strong desire to uplift her community and be part of meaningful change.

Working in hospital and healthcare settings early in her career highlighted the importance of holistic, trauma-informed care and motivated her to pursue a Master of Social Work at CSUN. Nayeli sought to expand her knowledge, gain clinical skills, and learn evidence-based models to become a well-rounded social worker capable of supporting individuals and families in complex circumstances.

During her first-year MSW practicum, Nayeli discovered Single Mothers Outreach and was fortunate to join the team as Program and Services Coordinator. She earned her BA in Sociology from CSUN, concentrating in Inequality and Diversity, and is currently pursuing her MSW. Nayeli brings her personal experiences, professional background, and deep passion for social justice to her work at SMO, creating programs and partnerships that empower single parents, strengthen families, and uplift communities.
