Give Hope This Season: Adopt a Family with SMO

The holidays are meant to be a time of warmth, joy, and community — but for many single-parent families, financial and emotional burdens make that difficult. That’s why SMO’s Adopt-A-Family program exists: to connect generous individuals, local businesses, and caring groups with deserving single-parent families, so they can experience the love and joy of the season without the stress.

What Is Adopt-A-Family?

Adopt-A-Family was born out of a simple idea: give hardworking single parents a chance to create beautiful holiday memories for their children. Through the program, families in need are “adopted” by compassionate donors — everyone from neighbors and churches, to community groups and businesses — who provide gifts, experiences, and holiday cheer.

For many SMO members, this program has made the difference between a challenging December and a memorable holiday:

New in 2025: Year-Round Sponsorships

This year, SMO is evolving — and expanding — the Adopt-A-Family program. Rather than limiting support to the holiday season, we now offer a year-round sponsorship option. That means families can be adopted for twelve months of support, enabling donors to contribute in more meaningful, sustained ways — not just gifts, but stability, resources, and hope.

How You Can Get Involved

2. Sponsor a family for the year — Provide sustained support through our new year-round program.
   
3. Corporate sponsorship — If you own or represent a business, consider hosting an Adopt-A-Family event. It’s a meaningful way to build team spirit while giving back — and SMO offers recognition for sponsors.
