We Wish to Thank
SMO wants to acknowledge and thank our new donor. Although he is not from Santa Clarita he decided to support SMO. He made a personal commitment: He says... "If I do well... I will do good." He values SMO's work and decided to make a commitment with the organization to support single moms and children.
Sanford D. Sigal. President and CEO NewMark Merrill
NewMark Merrill often adopts local charities, providing them with space to raise funds and awareness, and providing direct support through fundraisers and other events.

Mr. Sigal is also active in community organizations serving on the Board of the Camp Bob Waldorf Foundation, a camp for underserved children which Mr. Sigal attended when he was a child. He is currently serving as Vice Chairman of the Board and dinner chair since 2004 and was the recipient of the William Shatner Humanitarian Award in 2007 for his work for the Foundation and the Camp. He serves on the Board of Jewish Big Brothers Big Sisters (JBBBS) serving on their executive committee. Mr. Sigal serves as a mentor for young adults interested in real estate through the Community Leadership Institute (CLI) and mentors an Olympic Athlete on transitioning from sports to private industry. Currently, Mr. Sigal is Co-Chair of the Real Estate Principals Organization (RPO), a group of senior Jewish Real Estate Principals and Owners which provides financial and logistical support to a variety of organizations needing assistance. In 2019, Mr. Sigal was the honoree at the Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles Real Estate and Construction Dinner and currently serves on their Board.

We also wish to thank D'Wilfri Dance Art and Entertainment for all their investment in our children.

The impact of The Dance Therapy Class on SMO children has exceeded anything we expected from any program.  The class has helped kids to heal. It has helped to ease the stress and anxiety of the past year. It has allowed children to build confidence and has provided an outlet for them to express and communicate their feelings.

Providing Hope, Support, and Resources
Providing Hope, Support, and Resources

This Year’s Theme: Survivor

Empowering Hearts is an annual event that helps raise funds for programs and services offered at Single Mothers Outreach to empower Santa Clarita’s impoverished single-parent families.

Proceeds from sponsorships ticket sales silent auction and retail sales from Closet on Main are all essential to supporting our programs that enable single parents to care for their families effectively. Empowering HeArts bridges the worlds of social action and artistic expression by pairing inspirational women and artists of Santa Clarita to create art forms that depict the moving stories of amazing women.

December was a tough month for SMO.

Serious family illnesses COVID outbreaks at the SMO office and Closet on Main costing us needed holiday proceeds.

Regardless of the many challenges of 2020 over 350 people benefited from our Holiday Programs including Adopt A Family. SMO members received gift cards Christmas trees toys food clothing gift boxes and goodie bags. AAF was a fantastic drive-through event made possible because of our partnership with CrossPoint Church.

Single Mothers Outreach (SMO)

An interview with Yorleni Sapp, Executive Director

FJ: What lead you to start working with SMO?
