DaAnne Smith, Executive Director
DaAnne became Executive Director for SMO in January 2008. She did not take a salary for her full time services until July 2010. She has an educational background in Business Management from Pepperdine University and Cal State University at Northridge. Her previous professional and leadership experience includes employment at banks, businesses, churches, and various non-profit organizations for almost 30 years.
Handed a small drop-in program to direct, in just 5 years DaAnne has transformed it into a comprehensive community service center that serves the exploding single-parent population in L.A. County’s 3rd largest city. Recognized as one of the 51 Most Influential People in the Santa Clarita Valley by The Signal, and honored with a Bank of America Local Heroes Award, DaAnne works tirelessly to provide transformative services that allow families to get on with the business of living. Whether it is helping moms pull together enough food for dinner, or adequate clothing and supplies for their kids to go to school, or the grander tasks of job training and work that provides a living wage, DaAnne helps women at the lowest point of their lives get back on their feet and stay out of the system.
DaAnne has lived in Santa Clarita since 1987 and has been married for 31 years to her college sweetheart, Bob, and they have two grown daughters, Trisha 26 and Sherene 24.
Maria Clemens, Programs and Services Director
All programs of Single Mothers Outreach are managed by Maria Clemens, who is bilingual and has a Masters in Social Work degree from California State University Northridge. She has nearly a decade of experience in evaluating non-profit, social service programs. She has an extensive clinical background working with families.
Marcela Zoch, Spanish Programs and Services Administrator
Marcela is originally from Costa Rica, where she founded a non-profit organization called “Mamas en Accion” to help children in need. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, and her professional experience includes management, marketing and advertising for El Gallito Industrial and Kraft General Foods. Her ability to speak fluently in both Spanish and English is a great asset to SMO. She is working on programs and events specifically tailored to meet the needs of our single parents who do not speak English.
